Publisher - Pool Board Volume No. 7 Issue No. 7 Date May 2007
Buildings and Grounds By
Andrew Carpenter Spring is in the air and before long the sound of lawn
mowers. This year brings a changing of
the guard on the grounds committee at Chestnut Run. I will be taking over the duties from Ken and
Pam Coles who have moved on to other challenges involving the pool. They have done a great job over the years
making the pool look great all summer long and I look forward to trying to fill
their shoes. There are no major projects
that we plan on tackling this year with the grounds. Most of the concentration will be placed on
maintaining the present landscape, which includes keeping all the planting
beds, trees and shrubs under control. I
plan on holding a spring clean-up for a couple of hours in the coming
weeks. I will be sending an e-mail with
the dates and times. All of it will be
landscape clean-up. I hope you will come
out and join me as we start the 2007 pool year. Maintenance Report
By Kurt Geiger
The 2007 summer season
will begin with a different board member responsible for the maintenance of the
pool and building. That person would be me, Kurt Geiger. In the past, I have
been active with the swim team and have helped with the pool maintenance,
however with the retirement of John McGoldrick and Brian McNally, I have
retired from the swim team and will focus on just maintenance. All the
remaining pool members and I would like to give a huge thanks to John and Brian
for the many hours they have each dedicated to the pool over the last few
seasons. Ok, what is the plan of
attack for this season? Hopefully this can be
summed up with three main points:
1.
Short-Term Goals
2.
Long-Term Goals
3.
Hard Work Basically, the Short-Term
Goal is to maintain the existing facilities to provide a safe and fun swim
season for all the members and guests. While looking over the existing
conditions of the facilities during this winter, it did not take me too long to
make a list of necessary repairs, much as a result from the heavy usage and old
man winter. When considering other factors such as available funds and age of
the facilities, completing the basics will be a monumental task. The Long-Term Goal is
to plan for the future of the club. This includes major capital improvements
(oka major expenditures) to see that the club will continue to be a valuable
asset for current and future members, as well as the surrounding communities. The third point is Hard
Work. This is what you and I do to achieve the other two goals. All three main points
will begin in early May. Maintenance is the responsibility of all the owners, which
includes you. Please come out and help on Saturday’s in May, weather permitting
from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Projects can be arranged to fit personal time constraints
during the week if that is a condition for volunteering. Please feel free to
call Kurt Geiger at 769-3804 for any questions. Thanks and PLEASE VOLUNTEER!! Membership

it is a total team/parent effort. Please
